Bart's BBQ Chicken Pizza (South Carolina Style)
Back in 1999, Bart took me to North Carolina for the first time ever and I truly fell in love. If it wasn't so far away from my family, I would make Bart move us there. So, in honor of N.C. I thought cooking food would keep the love I have for that State going, trust me when I say, it keeps giving back because recipes I receive from my Mother-N-Law and her friends are simply amazing.
This pizza is truly a N.C. favorite among many. The ingredients are simple and clean. One ingredient not added is cilantro, Bart can't get near it. So, add some cilantro if you choose.
Ingredients:
1 ball of pizza dough from Fresh and Easy
1 jar of BBQ sauce, we use a spicy BBQ- I recommend some heat
2 cups of Sharp Cheddar Cheese
1/2-3/4 cup of red onions, sliced
2 cups of rotisserie chicken
Roll out the dough and cover entire pizza pan
Pour bbq sauce over pizza dough and cover with chicken, red onions and cheese.
Bake at 450 until golden brown and bubbly
I’m not a fan of bbq pizza, but I’m telling you if you had an extra room at your house Jim would move in just for chicken bbq pizza. Thinking about it now, I should probably make this for him sometime… on a night when all I want is a bowl of soup and he says, “soup? You can’t make a meal of soup!”
ReplyDeleteHahaha, your Jim sounds likes my hubby. He doesn't think soup is a meal! I love soup!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jen for an awesome recipe, I'm going to try it out.
Jaime
Mandy,
ReplyDeleteMy home is small but Jim is welcome, he can have our son's room if he doesn't mind sleeping on a baseball bed.
If you are not a fan of BBQ Chicken Pizza, try goat cheese and vodka sauce. I smother the dough with the vodka sauce (I get from Trader Joes) and big, thick peices of goat cheese and bake until golden brown, it's delish. In fact, when Bart has his Chicken Pizza I always make the goat cheese Vodka pizza for myself.
Now as far as soup, I lucked out, Bart does consider soup a meal, THANK GOODNESS because I love soup!
Jaime, let me know when you try it. Kids LOVE making them and love eating them, I obviously recommend regular bbq for the kids pizza.
Happy Dishes,
Jenifer
Ooooooh, I love BBQ Chicken Pizza. I have never thought to make my own. If I want it, I just go to CPK. Thanks for the recipe!
ReplyDeleteI told Scott about this recipe...he said gouda instead of cheddar would really make him smile. I might try both ways. I'm thinking of making this tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteJen i am going to make this for Tazz. He is going to love this. This pizza is his favorite I think because he moved here from Georgia and that's where he started eating it. Thanks for the great recipe.
